Kriya Yoga Swami Gurupriyananda Giri

The Australia Kriya Yoga Association is a non-profit charity, established in 2004 with the purpose of fostering the age-old spiritual practice of Kriya Yoga in Australia.

Kriya Yoga is an integrated and powerful meditation technique for simultaneous physical, mental emotional and spiritual development. Based on the science of breath and open to all, irrespective of religion, caste or creed, Kriya Yoga is a non-sectarian path to reaching higher states of consciousness and transforming one’s life and awareness of the Divine.

Born in ancient India, nurtured amongst snow-capped Himalayan peaks, Kriya Yoga has been lovingly passed from teacher to student for generations.  Many great masters are links in the unbroken chain of yogis all the way through to today’s practitioners – from the mysterious Himalayan yogi Mahavatar Babaji, to Lahiri Mahasaya, Sri Yuketswar Giri, the renowned Paramahamsa Yogananda (author of the spiritual classic Autobiography of a Yogi), and Paramahamsa Hariharananda.

The Australia Kriya Yoga Association is part of a world-wide network of institutions, headed by Paramahamsa Prajnanananda Giri, the successor of Paramahamsa Hariharananda, a realised master, powerful teacher, and current head of the lineage.

Under the loving guidance of our Guruji – and inspired by masters and sages of all traditions – the Australia Kriya Yoga Association runs programs across the country, making these profound teachings available to all. Centres and weekly meditation groups are established in each of the capital cities. Last year, Australia’s very first Kriya Yoga Ashram was founded in Sydney to create pathways for spiritual education, development and service. Two monastic yogacharyas – empowered teachers – Swami Gurupriyananda Giri and Swami Sarvatmananda Giri have come from the US and India respectively to live at the Ashram and guide sincere Australian seekers on the path of spirituality.
